About Boomer, The

Boomer, a Mixed Breed was rescued by Lori Byrne from United States.
Here's how Lori Byrne describes Boomer :
Cuddlebug, loving, alert, adaptive, loves attention
Does Boomer 's behavior show the inherent characteristics?
Yes, he likes to "herd" all the other dogs, (we have 9)and have them all in one place. he likes to watch the yard and the house. he is always paying attention to what is going on. also, he has to sniff everybody and every new thing, even when i change my clothes. he has always sat at my feet naturally, and heeled during walks. i never had to teach him these things, but i had to teach him the words that he was doing since 10 weeks old!!
Special Achievement of Boomer :
These dogs are easy to train, as they really want to please you. they are also big cuddlebugs. i taught my dog to scratch my back, as they use their paws alot, it was easy to do.
Lori Byrne's advice on what type of family should adopt a :
I would recommed this breed (the bernese mountain dog) to just about anybody. these dogs are great with children, and all other animals. they are extremely adaptive, alert, and would make great guard dogs. they are pretty mellow in the house, and outside they like to just keep track of whats going on.

About Silver, The

Silver, a Mixed Breed was rescued by Caryn from United Kingdom.

Silver is bombastic!!!her energy must come from her spots !!!!she is high maintenance but with that comes high love !!always on the go always on an adventure and always the 'spot' light of every day.
Does Silver 's behavior show the inherent characteristics?
Absolutely! on the dalmation side her high energy and fast running-spots turn to stripes she runs so fast !!!!and in the collie side the instinct to herd...sheep,chickens,my daughters!!!!!
Special Achievement of Silver :
Silver has completed her first 7 week puppy training course with certificate to prove it !!!the joy of learning commands and praise with ur dog is unique we have a friend for life!!!!
Caryn's advice on what type of family should adopt a :
A young energetic family with children and loads of time to play and go on adventures together and no breakable heirloom ornaments in the house!!!!!

About Daisy, The

Daisy, a Mixed Breed was adopted by Michele.meehan from Canada.
Here's how Michele.meehan describes Daisy :
Daisy is a very smart loving dog. we have socialized her a lot, with other dogs and people.
Does Daisy 's behavior show the inherent characteristics?
Daisy sure is a herding dog. she loves to be everywhere you are. she is starting to be very protective of us, and is showing that her friendliness towards strangers, will come with time. we adopted her from our local animal services when she was 7 months old. she loves the outdoors, so we walk her and take her on runs often.daisy needs a job to do at all times. she is now 17 months old and showing more of her breed characteristics, which are herding us and nipping.
Special Achievement of Daisy :
Before you adopt any dog, you should make sure that your lifestyle suits the breed of the dog. socialization is key to getting your dog to respond and in turn listen to you.we did not take daisy to obedience classes, but you need to be consistent in the training and commands to have a well rounded loved pet and loving companion.
Michele.meehan's advice on what type of family should adopt a :
The type of family would be a active family. everyone in the household should take part in the training. you have to remember that this breed of dog, likes to have a job to do at all times, boredom can turn into destructive behavior.with young children around you have to remember that this breed is a herding breed. i would not recommend leaving any dog unsupervised, with children or strangers around. sincerely, michele meehan

About Xena, The

Xena, a Mixed Breed was adopted by Leslie from United States.
Here's how Leslie describes Xena :
Xena is a real beauty. she has the westie head shape, buff color, huge beauiful brown eyes, and the chihuahua ears. xena is the size of a larger chihuahua and she has short hair. she reminds me of a fennac fox. she is spunky and loves to dance when we come home and craves lots of love. she loves to go for walks and short rides in the car. she is very curious but causious of insects and birds and cats.she does act like she is in charge and likes to be the center of attention so competes with her companion listo (he's a jrt). she can be sneaky and steal listo's food. she loves tasteless odersless castor oil and vitamin e. she loves to play but doesn't like listo to play at the sametime. she is eager to please most of the time.
Does Xena 's behavior show the inherent characteristics?
She does have that prima donna attitude that she is first and should be the center of attention which i understand is a strong chihuahua trait.she use to digg a lot but we broke her of that terrier habit.even though she is only half chihuahua she still shakes when she gets really nervous or scared.
Special Achievement of Xena :
Xena really knows how to love. if you have a dog like this love them and never hit them. just do the caesar milan "sssh" and tap them gently between their leg and chest. i am grateful for everyday i am alive and can walk and have my xena and listo. our dogs give us so much unconditional love sometimes i think they are the true angels on earth. xena is smart so i have learned different things that can trigger good or bad behaivor. we learn from our dogs. maybe they are god on earth. xena knows when i am sad, happy, upset, joyful, and even when i am ill. she has taught me as i have taught her. we all keeping learning and so does xena. xena when she swims in the pool looks really cute her long tail moves like a rutter in a boat.
Leslie's advice on what type of family should adopt a :
People who really love their animal companions and who will make the committment to walk them at least 5 days out of every week for at least 30 minutes. it is not only good for my dog but me & my husband but walking is great for all of us. backyard running is not proper exercise, but swimming is great both my dogs love it. if you own any dog exercise them and feed them a balanced diet.

Bowie is a dog with attitude. he loves agility he can jump very very high. bowie loves toys but thry dont last long, if you say to him " wheres your toy" he brings it to you but if you say " is that yours" i taught him and he shakes his head. we would class bowie as the joker/clown of the pack as hes so funny.

Bowie is crossed with alaskan malamute a racing breed, bowie loves racing with a sled attached to him and he loves snow as if you chuck it he eats it.

About Charlie, The

Charlie, a Mixed Breed was rescued by Tina from United States.
Here's how Tina describes Charlie :
The biggest, most lovable, gentle dog ever! very good with people as well as all the other animals we have.
Does Charlie 's behavior show the inherent characteristics?
I am unfamiliar with the breed characteristics.
Special Achievement of Charlie :
My husband rescued him from browning where charlie came up to his truck. when he went to pet him he noticed his right eye was very swollen and practically bulging from his head and his left eye was actually all mangled looking and had a big blob of pink hanging out of it. he asked someone if he knew who the dog belonged to and they told him they did not so my dog lovin husband brought him to the vet. the vet knew the dog and the owners and tried to contact them several times and left messages with no response. when they did not seem to care my husband brought him home for us to "bring back to health (as he was very skinny as well) and adopt out to a family. it took one look at this big lovable giant to say he had already found his adopted home! the vet informed us she did not know if his swollen eye will ever be normal again and that he has no sight in it and the other one she cut the yucky blob out of and said vision would be limited. i think he has partial visiion from both eyes though. we are so thankful after just a few days that charlie found us!
Tina's advice on what type of family should adopt a :
A family that will take care of them and love them. they will love you back!

About Charlie, The

Charlie, a Mixed Breed was adopted by Anita Bowers from United States.
Here's how Anita Bowers describes Charlie :
Energetic, happy, funny, loyal, clown, very needy, separation anxiety issues, now won't even go out dog door to pee; even if i'm in the house. he hates that much to be separated from me. going somewhere with him in my vehicle, and leaving him in it to go in anywhere is another huge pain in the neck.
Does Charlie 's behavior show the inherent characteristics?
So i'm told. on advise, i walked him 1/2 hour every morning before i left for work, and 1/2 hour every evening on my return. now i think thats why he won't go out his dogdoor anymore and go in the back yard. so i started walking him there instead. i'm at the end of my rope.
Special Achievement of Charlie :
He is so smart and loves to play, ofcoarse, but is really starting to cause me stress because of his neediness. otherwise he learns quickly, trick and such, and love to cuddle...a true lap baby.
Anita Bowers's advice on what type of family should adopt a :
Retired people who can spend time with the dog to adaquately train it and condition it not to be so intense about being separated from the owner.
