About Maggie, The

Maggie, a Mixed Breed was adopted by Joan Mattila from Canada.
Here's how Joan Mattila describes Maggie :
She is black and white with very curly hair and bright eyes. her tail has a permanent curl in it.
Does Maggie 's behavior show the inherent characteristics?
It does relate. she is very inquisitive about anything. she loves to chew. and went she is bad she is very good at giving you the sad puppy look that melts your heart.
Special Achievement of Maggie :
She likes to chew on anything she can get her teeth on.
Joan Mattila's advice on what type of family should adopt a :
I would reommend her breed to a family that has young children, but not toddles. i would also reommend her breed to senior citizens. families that have lots of time to spend with this breed.

About Shadow, The

Shadow, a Mixed Breed was rescued by Bea from Canada.
Here's how Bea describes Shadow :
Little bundle of energy that needs a job
Does Shadow 's behavior show the inherent characteristics?
Definitively! she "eyes" her buddy, like collies do with sheep, but then goes after the legs, like the blue heelers do. she also went after our horse's nose and legs, just to get some of it's grain ... she was also known to heard the previous owner's cat.
Special Achievement of Shadow :
She was not socialized properly as a puppy (the family that had her just locked her in the backyard), and therefore she is scared of a lot of "normal" things. so we are working hard on taking her to different places, getting her used to everything, including other dogs and cars. on a funny note: her tongue is too long and is sticking out when she tries to concentrate or when she is asleep.
Bea's advice on what type of family should adopt a :
A very active family, that goes for long hikes or bike rides with their dogs, also perferrably owns some property.

Special Achievement of Battle :

Doreen's advice on what type of family should adopt a :
The person/family who has a mixed breed must be ready to have plenty of time to train. otherwise, he is full of love to his owners.

About Bandit, The

Bandit, a Mixed Breed was adopted by Carolyn Frost from Canada.
Here's how Carolyn Frost describes Bandit :
actually he is a good dog. i have had to separate him from his sister because she had her leg broken, by a customer. my only concern is that he has taken a dislike to a lot od people coming to my house and has even tried to bite some. i know it is his protect instinct, but it scares me.
Does Bandit 's behavior show the inherent characteristics?
i think it does i know that terriers are famous for the protect instinct as i said.
Special Achievement of Bandit :
they are besutiful dogs, very loving. they believe they are human and will take over and run your home if you let them. my youngest katie is very small and she is a lap dog. at ten months old she has me wrapped around her finger but she does listen to me.

i would recommend a family that has older children. or the children don't live at home anymore. it still takes a few minutes for bandit to recognize my kids when they come.

About Jessie, The

Jessie, a Mixed Breed was rescued by Elizabeth from United States.
Here's how Elizabeth describes Jessie :
Jessie is the most beautiful,well-behaved dog that i have ever owned. she has the most beautiful black hair with a white bib and tan markings on her face. when i picked her out at the pound she immediately caught my eye with her beauty, but that was only the surface. she was the only dog not barking, not jumping, just eating crumbs of dog food off the floor. she is an extremely smart dog and is very obedient. she listens to what you say and knows her place. she never runs off our property as if she is on one of those electrical fences, but she isnt.she wont even go out the door unless permission is given.
Does Jessie 's behavior show the inherent characteristics?
You certainly can see that jessie is part gordon setter, but not only her looks. gordons love to talk and so does jessie. it is as though she tries to tell me something, like when i am in my garden, she will stand up, look at me and if i am not paying attention, she will bark. when we take her to the vet, she barks as if to say, get me out of here. gordon setters also love to play and that trait is certainly true with jessie. she loves her basket of toys and stands there choosing which one she would like to play with at the moment. gordons are very loving and content to just hang out with the family and jessie certainly has that trait.
Special Achievement of Jessie :
My dog, jessie, means the world to me. i often wonder who could have let her go when the shelter picked her up. she was fully trained and just a beautiful dog. people go to breeders because they are timid about getting a shelter dog, but if only they could see how well behaved and devoted this dog is to my family, they might change their minds. anyone that comes in contact with my dog, expresses how good a dog she is. case in point, recently i visited the vet's office and there was a woman who was frightened of her because she is big and black.the people at the desk told her not to be afraid because this dog is very nice .
Elizabeth's advice on what type of family should adopt a :
she is good with all people, she loves other animals, both cats and dogs.she is a dog who craves attention from her owner. she also is quite active and loves to play, whether it be with a familly member or another dog.

Crazy, nutcase of a dog, easily distracted but at the same loyal and fun to be around. adhd for dogs???
Does Cassie 's behavior show the inherent characteristics?

Special Achievement of Cassie :
A daily challenge, but a joy to be around as she is such a fun loving dog.
Lynette Pritchard's advice on what type of family should adopt a :
Activ family willing to put in the time to exercise and train.

About Indi, The

Indi, a Mixed Breed was adopted by Pamela from United States.
Here's how Pamela describes Indi :
Indi is an intelligent high energy dog. she has the color and markings of an english pointer with the long ears and keen senses of a hound. she requires lots of exercise and always wants to be investigating things.
Does Indi 's behavior show the inherent characteristics?
Her behavior is very typical of both breeds; if she gets onto a scent, it is hard to get her to focus on anything else at that time. she will continue to follow the scent instead of coming when called and can get obsessed with tracking something. she spends long periods of time watching and following chipmunks along the stonewalls. she pushes her head into the space between the rocks and "snorts" out air to find the scent. she is very determined and doesn't give up! this winter she has been catching moles from along the foundation of our house. she is quite proud of herself! she loves to steal things from the counter, run off with socks and baseball caps, and grab any tissues or paper towels that she can find. she seems to have many traits characteristic of both of these busy breeds.
Special Achievement of Indi :
In addition to being very active, she is an absolute snuggle bug in the house. she loves to be curled up next to (or even on top of) you on the couch. her favorite place to rest is completely submerged under the bed covers or wrapped in a blanket. she does love her crate, too, and will head right into it when asked.
Pamela's advice on what type of family should adopt a :
A family with a large fenced-in yard or invisible fence is a must. also, owners who are willing to take their dog on walks several times a week in addition to exercising by playing running activities in the yard. this is a combination of two high energy breeds. these types of dogs needs to be physically and mentally challenged each day so they channel their energy in a positive manner. if not, they could end up getting into trouble and being destructive.

About Chloe, The

Chloe, a Mixed Breed was adopted by Nicole Kienzle from Canada.
Here's how Nicole Kienzle describes Chloe :
Chloe is pure love and energy rolled in is big bear like package.
Does Chloe 's behavior show the inherent characteristics?
Chloe has the characteristics of both her parental breeds. she is loyal to a fault but extremely strong willed. chloe has a strong desire to be directed but she needs to understand the reason.
Special Achievement of Chloe :
Chloe's favorite treats are fruits and veggies. she would turn down meat for an apple any day.
Nicole Kienzle's advice on what type of family should adopt a :
I would recommend dogs like my chloe to anyone who has allot of love and allot of space. i would not recommend her breed to anyone looking for a completely submissive animal. my chloe has a mind of her own and i love it!

About Skeeter, The

Skeeter, a Mixed Breed was adopted by Keith Keene from United States.
Here's how Keith Keene describes Skeeter :
Miniature blonde/white deer with a thick ruff of fur top of neck down to shoulders that makes him look like he's wearing a white tuxedo top...with good manners[to boot], intelligence and is multi-talented ...a true "southern gentleman".
Does Skeeter 's behavior show the inherent characteristics?
A little....he is a 6 lb dog that believes he is a german shepard...chases fireworks in the sky...cleans his face like a cat[grew up with a cat]...loves to be held & petted like a baby...sings along with certain tv show themes...can say " i love you" intelligively...laid back personality and very gentle.
Special Achievement of Skeeter :
Skeeter has'nt found a dog yet that he can't get along with...he loves to sing in a group of animals..he will share his food easily...he shows affection to everyone he meets...
Keith Keene's advice on what type of family should adopt a :
Elderly who want an animal who needs great affection, will give loyalty & much love in return, easy to care for and a great watchdog...i wouldnt recommend a family with small children [6 yrs old down]adopting this breed of small dog...they are very skittish and get hurt easily...and have long memories....

About Cookie, The

Cookie, a Mixed Breed was rescued by Dana Rabin from United States.
Here's how Dana Rabin describes Cookie :
A sweet loving little girl.
Does Cookie 's behavior show the inherent characteristics?
We rescued cookie from a bad part of los angeles, california and we do not know enough just yet... with the exception of one thing i know for sure she has the sweetness of a bichon, a calm, quite, loving dog. she especially likes to sit on your lap. she could stay there all day if she could. more of her personality will come out in the weeks ahead. but, cookie desperately needs alot of tlc and training - as soon as possible.
Special Achievement of Cookie :
When you consider to rescue a dog, you must do your homework first...and be prepared to have the time, patience, and understanding - for these poor little doggies suffer from seperation anxiety disorder, and other unknown problems. so, they need alot of love and compassion.
Dana Rabin's advice on what type of family should adopt a :
A couple or a family with older children. (so, that they do not constantly hover over the dog when it arrives in their new home.)
