About Tiny, The

Tiny, a Purebred was adopted by John Paul from Philippines.
Here's how John Paul describes Tiny :
Playful

About Winston, The

Winston, a Purebred was adopted by Gretchen King from United States.
Here's how Gretchen King describes Winston :
Winston,he is very playful, the only problem i am having with Winston, when he goes out to potty i am having to watch him real close ,and sometimes i look away and he is eating his own waist. could you please advise me on what i can do.

About Lucy, The

Lucy, a Purebred was adopted by June Fowler from United States.
Here's how June Fowler describes Lucy :
She is very, very energetic and loving, a yellow lab. she is also a thief if given the opportunity. if i leave my purse on the floor, she will take everything out when i am not looking and choose items at random to hide under the sofa or bed. yes, she is a house dog. she is afraid of the dark and will not go out to potty unless we walk out with her. we live in the country and she was living in the city when born. she had never heard a cyote or hoot owl and there were street lights. we leave our spot light on at night now. she is getting better and we plan to install a dog door for her to go out doors to a fenced area when she gets over her fear.
Does Lucy 's behavior show the inherent characteristics?
Terrific nose. has found items i thought were lost forever. can't hide her favorite items from her. not really sure what you are looking for here.
Special Achievement of Lucy :
This is my second lab. my first lived 15 years. i would not even consider any other dog breed to adopt. my new love has a different personality but the loyalty, love and the desire to please is the same.
June Fowler's advice on what type of family should adopt a :
A patient family who is looking for a loyal companion, not a guard dog.they love people and might even wag their tail while someone breaks into your house if they know labs. i know because this happened to us with our last lab. must be ready for a challenge and willing to go through a little pain for the reward that is sure to come.

About Leilu, The

Leilu, a Purebred was adopted by Corrie Russinko from United States.
Here's how Corrie Russinko describes Leilu :
Leilu is a deep red and white with one blue and one brown eye, and a spotch of white on her right perk ear. but as physically beautiful as she is, her personality is what really catches everyone's attention: curious and gregarious nature, able to show her loving dispostion so candidly in both facial and body expressions (she hugs people).
Does Leilu 's behavior show the inherent characteristics?
The intelligence of this breed is amazing. having leilu around is like having a small child in the home - constantly curious, willing to learn and involved with everyone and everything that is going on in the home. she listens while we speak to her and tilts her head from side to side. i swear she completely understands everything we say!
Special Achievement of Leilu :
We tried agility, obedience and sports in which she did well but we found leilu's true calling in therapy work. she is able to sense when people are going through tough times and shows a special gentleness to them. we particiapte in a reading program at our local library and she has bonded with a little boy who was left orphaned and ill like she has never done with any of the children before.
Corrie Russinko's advice on what type of family should adopt a :
Border collies require constant physical and mental interaction and stimulation so they are not for everyone. they will make wonderful family dogs but only if everyone is committed to working as a team to provide care. otherwise, it is best to leave them to the farms. however, having a border collie as part of your family (pack) is one of the most rewarding experiences you can provide for yourself and children and i would recommend that anyone who can meet the critia adopt one.

About Louie Vuitton, The

Louie Vuitton, a Purebred was rescued by Erica from United States.
Here's how Erica describes Louie Vuitton :
Loveable. the best thing that happend to my family.

About Zuma, The

Zuma, a Purebred was adopted by Sangram from India.
Here's how Sangram describes Zuma :
He has been with me for about six months. he is still growing and full of life.
Does Zuma 's behavior show the inherent characteristics?
Yes
Special Achievement of Zuma :
He has a very bad habit of jumping at people.he does not listen to me at all when there are people round. he has a tendency to grab when offered food.
Sangram's advice on what type of family should adopt a :
For rhodesian ridgeback you need a lot space for the dog to run around.very vigorous excerses is necessary

About Bella, The

Bella, a Mixed Breed was adopted by Zandra from South Africa.
Here's how Zandra describes Bella :
Bella is very outgoing - and has a mind of her own. she loves company and has fitted into our household as if she has been there all her life. bella is a real busy-body and only sits still when she is sleeping.
Does Bella 's behavior show the inherent characteristics?
Bella has the face of the cocker spaniel and the body of the border collie - she is full of energy just like the border collie - she chases a pair of 'wagtails' that are breeding on our verandah when they walk on the lawn looking for food - which is the cocker spaniel coming out in her - the wagtails in turn tease her by doing short flights around the lawn making bella run for a good 15 minutes at a time until she loses interest in them and/or finds something else more interesting to play with.
Special Achievement of Bella :
I've only had bella for a month - but she stole my heart within minutes of receiving her. she has a gorgeous face - and the most adorable eyes - you can't help but love her - she captures the hearts of everyone who meets her. she also gets along well with my other dogs; which are two maltese cross; and a boer-boel x australian cattle dog.
Zandra's advice on what type of family should adopt a :
I would recommend a puppy like bella to a family with children. bella is very friendly and has a very out-going personality - you can't help but love her

About Abby, The

Abby, a Mixed Breed was rescued by Ronnie Anderson from United States.
Here's how Ronnie Anderson describes Abby :
She is a great dog that been to obedience training, and also has herded cattle and sheep.
Does Abby 's behavior show the inherent characteristics?
Yes she is what i call a super alfa a top dog aqnd displays it among too many dogs, but does have a extended she gets to see.
Special Achievement of Abby :
The most special thing about abby is she has always got along with cats and so her mian pack is four cats.
Ronnie Anderson's advice on what type of family should adopt a :
My dog abby is a one mans dog and is very protective of me.

About Babe, The

Babe, a Mixed Breed was rescued by Dorine from United States.
Here's how Dorine describes Babe :
Huge, loving, sweet, precious, hungry, loves to interact with other dogs and people, playful, kind, thoughtful, gentle and loves to give hugs and kisses.
Does Babe 's behavior show the inherent characteristics?
We know that babe was abused by his former owners because the shelter tried to get her back to a decent weight. babe was kicked and hit when she was a puppy and teen. she still carries some scars and backs off quickly if she is sitting on the floor at your feet and you move your feet too quickly...ie. to fold you legs. we suppose that she was to be trained to be an attack dog but her gentle nature was in conflict with what the original owner wanted. so we are fortunate and blessed to have found such a loving gal pet.
Special Achievement of Babe :
My husband tripped and broke his ankle which resulted in an operation and cast. when my husband returned from the hospital babe came up to him, sniffed his cast, and laid down at his feet licking his cast. then babe started to cry. it was so touching to see our babe (we've had her now for 10 months) be so caring about my husband and his foot. especially knowing that she is so afraid of feet and foot movements. what a love babe is to us, and what a "trooper" she is in conquering her fears.
Dorine's advice on what type of family should adopt a :
Big, small, solo family, any kind of family. she loves children especially. our children are grown so she has adopted all the children in our neighborhood to be her special "pals"! she is wonderful with humans and other animals.

About Chico, The

Chico, a Mixed Breed was rescued by Mady Malloy from United States.
Here's how Mady Malloy describes Chico :
Cute and cuddly.
Does Chico 's behavior show the inherent characteristics?
When he trots around he has the air of a show dog. he prances and knows that even if he doesn't have all the characteristics of his breed(s), he "is" a show dog and proud of it.
Special Achievement of Chico :
Always rescue before you buy. always....the overwhelming number of dogs waiting for homes is reason enough to utilize what is out there. don't contribute to the inhumane way of the breeding factories. if you think you need a full breed, find someone reputable, ask around, don't go to the mall pet stores. our story with chico is unique in that he found us across the border, but he has sisters that were rescued here in the u.s. and as small a drop in the bucket as it is, it is still a drop that can grow and grow if anyone that desires a pet, can do it and help.
Mady Malloy's advice on what type of family should adopt a :
Families that truly want to provide a home for any animal and want to offer love. with chico, he does have issues with ownership of food, his first 8 weeks of survival contribute to that, so the breed isn't a factor in that, but his breed characteristics seem to offer ease in care. he's small and can be an indoor dog, but also loves the outdoors and enjoys his surroundings. we think he is possibly a "one of a kind" dog.

Angel (girl), a Mixed Breed was taken in by Lisa from United States.

Does Angel (girl) 's behavior show the inherent characteristics?
She needs lots of attention.
Special Achievement of Angel (girl) :

About Lucky, The

Lucky, a Mixed Breed was rescued by Donna Cea from United States.
Here's how Donna Cea describes Lucky :
My dog, lucky, is the most lovable, loyal dog i've ever come across. she accepts any and all animals i have brought into our home, including puppies, kittens, grown cats, and even my parrot. we rescued her from the pound and she lets us know how much she appreciates that every day of her life.
Does Lucky 's behavior show the inherent characteristics?
I am sure the border collie part in her makes her so lovable and tolerable to any other animals in our home. the shepherd in her makes her a wonderful protector if the need arises. the sweetness in her, is just her personality!!
Special Achievement of Lucky :
The only thing else i can share about lucky is to tell you all, it is worth it to save a dogs life. they somehow know it and will be your faithful friend forever!
Donna Cea's advice on what type of family should adopt a :
Any family would do good with this mixture of breeds. she accepts any kids, any other animals, and friendly with company.

About Jah, The

Jah, a Mixed Breed was rescued by Taylore from United States.
Here's how Taylore describes Jah :
Jah is a wolf/malamute. he is gorgeous--a movie star dog. many people stop me to talk about jah. he prances and has a big fluffy tail. he looks like a wolf. he's huge!
Does Jah 's behavior show the inherent characteristics?
Malamutes were pets of inland northern peoples who earned their keep by pulling whole villages on the move. jah has unlimited energy and strength. he loves to play with other dogs and will do so fo's hhhh hours. he will run from a pack fight and even protects kitties.
Special Achievement of Jah :
If i am very kind to jah and speak in a soft almost whisper, he seems to like it and minds better than when i talk loudly to him. at the end of the day, he loves to be told stories of what he did that day. he likes water and being cool. he will lie in a mud puddle.
Taylore's advice on what type of family should adopt a :
I don't think a family should have this dog if they have small children. men love jah, so i would say he is a great pet for a single guy. i am a retired woman and i handle him pretty well but he still outsmarts me, so i have to stay sharper than he is--which is a good thing.

About Monique, The

Monique, a Mixed Breed was rescued by Sara from United States.
Here's how Sara describes Monique :
Monique is a katrina survivor. she was found holding onto a branch is the stormy waters as well as having a coil around her tail. she was three months old at the time. she is so lovable and dependable...and smart.
Does Monique 's behavior show the inherent characteristics?
Yes and no. monique is very perceptive, she seems to know what you are going to do before you do it. rots are known to have a loving behavior one minute and can turn in the other. monique has never done this. she is very submissive and loves us dearly...she is so special as people noted rather than based on her breed.
Special Achievement of Monique :
Understand your dog. do not try to treat him/her as a human. remember it is a dog and not a human. love your dog...do things with your dog...for example going to a bark park is not to socialize with other pet owners. do things with your dog...you will find your pet will be that companion you want and more bonded with you. do things together with your dog...
Sara's advice on what type of family should adopt a :
Anyone...she loves people and children..and has never bit anyone...she is three years old now...

About Annabelle, The

Annabelle, a Mixed Breed was rescued by Evelyn Burnham from United States.
Here's how Evelyn Burnham describes Annabelle :
Annabelle is a very loving and loyal companion. she has some goofy tendencies and gets to running so fast that she leaps like a deer.
Does Annabelle 's behavior show the inherent characteristics?
As far as the rottie part, she can be stubborn especially during obedience school. she is very willing to work and to please. she is very "possessive" of her family. she is an excellent watchdog and will let us know when she hears a strange sound. since we are not sure what she is mixed with, we don't know about her other breed characteristics.
Special Achievement of Annabelle :
We have always had rescued mixed breed dogs. annabelle is our 4th dog. she is highly intelligent and very willing to please. being a mixed rescued dog, she has been spayed which i highly recommend for these type of dogs. she has some goofy tendencies but all in all is a very loving companion. she was rescued from a flea market.
Evelyn Burnham's advice on what type of family should adopt a :
Anyone can own a mixed breed. the animal shelters are full of them and they make very loyal, loving companions. unless someone definitely wants a pure bred dog, then mixed are the way to go.
