About Happy Tanner, The

Happy Tanner, a Purebred was adopted by Evelyn from Canada.
Here's how Evelyn describes Happy Tanner :
Happy is a very happy papillon. his whole world is rosy if he can just be with us,he is quiet very rarely barks, and wiggles his entire body when he greets you.his coat is soft and silky. he is primarily white with two large black patches on his back. his face is black with a long white patch coming straight down the middel, with just a hint of tan around the eye.
Does Happy tanner 's behavior show the inherent characteristics?
His behavioris charateristic of the breed. he loves to be with people. he greets everyone with his tail wagging and his body wiggling as he circles their legs. he is pretty good at going to the bathroom his training sheet. but ohhhh if you leave him alone in a room for more than five minutes he will have a puddle on the floor for you when you return. he thrives on attention, wants you to play with him and his squeeky toys, when he is tired he wants to sleep near you or on you. he loves car rides and little children
Special Achievement of Happy Tanner :
Happy is a house dog but he needs to exercise too. we encourage him to run the 1/4 mile. we station ourselves at each end of a 22 foot hall and happy races from one one to the other non-stop at top speed until he cant run anymore and flops down at our feet. happy used to bite my feet for attention but stopped almost immediately when i followed trainpetdog.com's advise.
Evelyn's advice on what type of family should adopt a :
Happy is an ideal travel companion and he thrives on attention. i would recommend a small family with a young child or an older couple that likes to travel by car or rv. papillons do best when they are given lots of love and attention.

About Molly, The

Molly, a Purebred was adopted by Zel Singleton from South Africa.
Here's how Zel Singleton describes Molly :
I would explain our molly as a beautiful little gentle soul who would creep into anyone's heart. being a typical terrier she obviously as small as she is, is not afraid of anything.
Does Molly 's behavior show the inherent characteristics?
I have had yorkies for many years and i would say that she is a typical yorkie and deffinately has all the characteristics of her breed.
Special Achievement of Molly :
Molly will always join into any conversation by cocking her little head from one side to the other as if understanding exactly what one is chatting about.
Zel Singleton's advice on what type of family should adopt a :
I would suggest a loving caring family who will take the time to not only groom their yorkie but also spend loads of time with him or her as they really enjoy human company and to be chatted to during the day.

About Dory, The

Dory, a Purebred was adopted by Mona from United States.
Here's how Mona describes Dory :
dory was named after the character in the movie "finding nemo". and true to her namesake, she she is on her mission, then suddenly finds heself wondering what she is doing. after a moment of distraction, she quickly recovers and is back at it. her colors are bright and distinct, and her eyes twinkle.
Does Dory 's behavior show the inherent characteristics?
with everything i have read about bassets, dory seems to be right in the loop. she listens intently, cocking her head, as if to discern the words that come from my mouth. i've only had her three weeks, so i have much to learn from her and vice versa.
Special Achievement of Dory :
i also have a 13 yr old english cocker. he loves dory, and she follows him, imitating many good habits. he has made it easy to show her about going outside to potty, sitting to get your food dish set down, and just basic calmness.

About Simba And Maziso, The

Simba And Maziso, a Purebred was adopted by Christine from United States.
Here's how Christine describes Simba And Maziso :
Strong, loyal, protective, very intelligent, independent-minded
Does Simba and maziso 's behavior show the inherent characteristics?
Yes both our dogs are great runners, excellent watchdogs, very attached to my husband and me, but aloof to strangers.
Special Achievement of Simba And Maziso :
Both our dogs were born and bred in zimbabwe, the home of rhodesian ridgebacks. we adopted them when they were eight weeks old and raised them in zimbabwe until the age of five years, when we took them with us to the us. initially, they had some difficulty adjusting to the different environment and climate, but now they feel completely at home. our family being great music lovers, our dogs enjoy music as well, especially mozart, and simba loves to sing along when my husband plays the saxohone.
Christine's advice on what type of family should adopt a :
Physically fit people willing to dedicate lots of time and commitment. a big backyard is recommended, as rhodesian ridgebacks need lots of exercise and stimulation, otherwise they get bored. they need a firm, but loving hand.

Most definatly. he is a protector, a herd dog, tenacious, obedient, and highly intelligent.

About Meia, The

Meia, a Purebred was rescued by Bill Crawford from United Kingdom.
Here's how Bill Crawford describes Meia :
She is a typical gsd breed, but nervous and matronly
Does Meia 's behavior show the inherent characteristics?
Her behaviour is exactly what you would expect, from a gsd but she is really bright and sneaky when she is in the trunk of my 4x4 estate she can by pass the safety mesh i installed to keep her in the trunk when travelling,it took mr ages to find out how she managed so i hid and watchd her.the rear seat of my car has an arm rest to the outside of the seat back against each door about 6 inches wide and she pushes on this until it folds forward and she squeezes herself thru the gap onto the rear seat and then (this is the sneaky bit)she pushes the arm rest back into position and you would not be able to tell how she managed to get thru.
Special Achievement of Meia :
When i first had her i thought she was very whingy and whiney but now i realize she was actually conversing with me she would whine just before my cell phone or house phone rang or when the micro wave pinged she would have made a brilliant hearing dog for deaf people because she also points to the item that is making or about to make the noise.
Bill Crawford's advice on what type of family should adopt a :
A family with a lot of time on their hands and who are able to have the dog with them for a lot of the day and a family who require a staunch, loving, protective, faithful to the end canine member pf the family.

About Cara, The

Cara, a Purebred was rescued by Nicola from GB.
Here's how Nicola describes Cara :
Extremely loyal and loving but when busy doing the things she loves best, like on the scent of pheasant, deer, rabbits or whatever, she is extremely obstinate and totally preoccupied. she is not particularly feathery, a stunning russett colour and a petite, elfin setter. she is full of enthusiasm for life and high spirited. likes to assert her authority over the local foxes! thrives on as much exercise as possible and is a very fussy eater. bit like her owner really...
Does Cara 's behavior show the inherent characteristics?
I think so having done some research.
Nicola's advice on what type of family should adopt a :
Someone with 100% commitment to their dog who lives in the country with lots of open space and who is prepared to go for long walks and runs every day. someone who is around all the time in the home as this breed i think not only thrives on exercise but also on loving company.

About Greta Garbo, The

Greta Garbo, a Purebred was rescued by Nancy from United States.
Here's how Nancy describes Greta Garbo :
Greta is a beautiful, active, smart, loyal girl. she came to us a year ago through the central tx german rescue group. when they found her running loose, she was starved, sick with respiratory problems and almost gone. they fostered her and brought her back with tender loving care. she stole our hearts with her unconditional affection the minute we brought her home. she is wonderful with our grandchildren and they love her as well. she must be stimulated or she will become bored. an hour walk is what she lives for every day. she loves to play "search". i hide little treats and she searches until she finds every one. she also loves to play "guess which hand" the treat is in. she races around in the backyard like a greyhound, especially when the weather is nippy out. she has a favorite chair inside the sliding doors where she watches the lake, ducks, blue heron, squirrels. she also seems to have a built in clock, she gets us up if she thinks we have stayed too long in bed. rawhide is a favorite of hers. she doesn't chew anything in the house. sometimes, she will find a sock or shoe and bring it out to us. this is an indication that she is bored and needs to walk or play.
Does Greta garbo 's behavior show the inherent characteristics?
She would dominate given any opportunity, so we must constantly nip that behavior in the bud. we have not been able to stop the jumping up on guests. we have tried every trick that is recommended. once everyonne in the house, she finally settles down. her other issue is dogs on our walking route. she begins to anticipate the dog before we are even with the house. so far, a short leash and making her sit until she calms down seems to work best, but, we are far from being where we need to be. also, we live in an area that is loaded with deer. they drive her nuts and once she got away from me and chased them thru catcus, cockleburrs etc. when we finally got her to come to us, she was a mess. we had to pick catctus our of her all day long.
Special Achievement of Greta Garbo :
I would never have thought that a dog could bring so much to our life in our senior years. thank goodness we are a physically active couple. this breed is not for the sedentary. every senior should have a dog or cat as a companion. they enrich our lives beyond anything you can imagine. just be sure that you pick a breed that matches your activity level.
Nancy's advice on what type of family should adopt a :
As i mentioned above, this dog breed needs action. because this breed is a pack dog, i would not recommend it for a family who is gone all day. our greta wants to be with our "pack" constantly. it would be cruel to leave her home alone all day. they are loyal, smart and can be trained to do many things and should be, or they will become bored. they love children and are very protective. a family must have a fenced in yard. their protective instincts could become a danger to others under the right circumstances. they can be stubborn and must be handled with consistancy and love, never, never any hitting or agressive behavior. you must be calm and assertive. once your dog is trained, you will have the most wonderful family member in the world.
