Country of Origin, History of Italian Spinones
The origins of the Spinone are unknown. As is commonly believed, that they descended from rough-haired dogs in the Italian peninsula. These dogs were typically like the Pointers.
Some Italian paintings of the 15th century have similar dogs. Needless to say, they were popular among the nobility because of their strong hunting skills.
The modern Italian Spione can be traced to Piedmont in Italy and was probably developed in the 19th century.
