Here's how
Rebecca Cox describes
Tootsie :
|
Does
Tootsie 's behavior show the inherent
characteristics?
American eskimo dogs where the first dog breed to walk the tight rope in the circus. tootsie carries the talent of her breeds characteristics as well, she learned to stand, sit, lay, and give paw within the first two months after i bought her and at my command. some american eskimos tend to be very territorial but, not tootsie, she loves people and attention just like her breed did back in the day when they used them for the barnum and bailey circus. |
Special Achievement of Tootsie :
Tootsie is very smart and fun loving. she does tricks when asked and is very playful but she knows when enough is enough! any dog can be trianed to do want you want them 2 as long as you stick with the same training techniques. i have been taking advice from nancy richards (she can be reached at: tarinpetdog.com) through emails she has sent me that have helped me alot. |
Rebecca Cox's advice on what type of family should adopt
a :
An american eskimo would be perfect for any size family. they need to be brought around alot of people when they are babies so learn to grow comfortabe around people instead of territorial. |

Harley, The |
Harley, a
Purebred was
adopted by
Cheryl Turner from
United States. |
Here's how
Cheryl Turner describes
Harley :
My dog harley is great! he is big, full of energy and never ceases to amaize me. even though he is four years old, he plays like he is still a puppy but that is a characteristic of the breed. he is smart and curious and always wants to be with me. he loves people but would not hesitate to protect me if he felt we were being threatened. harley and me |
Does
Harley 's behavior show the inherent
characteristics?
Definately! g.s. someimtes want to be the boss and you have to let them know that you are in charge. they are very energetic and curious. also, they love to work and play. |
Special Achievement of Harley :
If you get a dog and you are feeling overwhelmed because you don't "fit together" just take time to really get to know your dog. it may take a while but you will get there. remember, large dogs sometimes mature later so they can be obnoxious but they will grow out of that in time with some playfull times and training. all dogs need love and understanding. |
Cheryl Turner's advice on what type of family should adopt
a :
I think people who love big dogs with alot of personality and energy would love having a giant schnauzer in their family. they are full of life, want to have fun and learn. |

Zora, a
Purebred was
adopted by
Lori Smit from
United States. |
Here's how
Lori Smit describes
Zora :
She's happy, bouncy and full of love and licks. we named her zora because she has a dark mask across her eyes (when her hair is short). she's brindle and white, and i keep her in her long coat. |
Does
Zora 's behavior show the inherent
characteristics?
Shih tzus are just the sweetest breed of dog. they just love everybody and love life. zora gets all excited and happy whenever there are any people around. she thinks they are there just for her to greet and love. |
Special Achievement of Zora :
Zora is a little retriever. she always wants to bring her toys to be thrown for her to fetch. she knows most of her toys by name and will go find them when we ask her to. |
Lori Smit's advice on what type of family should adopt
a :
Shih tzus do take time and energy to care for. they are very sociable and would rather not be left home alone all day. they are great for families who have someone home most of the day to give them love and attention. they also do take some time to groom unless they are kept in a puppy cut, and even then they must be brushed a few times a week. they are wonderful for someone who wants a lovable lap dog. |

Rambo, The |
Rambo, a
Purebred was
adopted by
Karna from
United States. |
Here's how
Karna describes
Rambo :
The most loveable, happy, funny little boy. he loves to play and touch gently the people he loves, hours of holding paws, licking, kissing, and rolling around on the floor. he's smart. he's always thinking. how to to entertain himself with his toys, or a new way to tease his cats that surprises them and us. never malicious, just playful. |
Does
Rambo 's behavior show the inherent
characteristics?
American akitas are extremely smart and are known for thinking things through. when told no, they will sit and review the situation, then do it again but alittle different and then wait for the outcome. he may try several times til he gets his way. he almost looks like he is laughing even smiling when he gets it right. they learn verbal and hand signals very quickly. mostly without effort, unless he is bored! |
Special Achievement of Rambo :
When teaching this breed, gentle them into learning with games. be creative, laugh, like chidren do when they play. these dogs are like children and they are so fun to teach. read as much as you can then make it fun, the learning comes much faster after play. an assortment of toys is good also. i change his toys regularly, moving or hiding or even removing old ones and placing new ones in his toy box as a surprise. like watching a three year old child. |
Karna's advice on what type of family should adopt
a :
Very patient and very loving. non aggresive. these dogs learned best with tender care, even though the do need a firm touch sometimes. owners need to be the strong one. training daily is a must. they are large and very strong. working professionally with e-collars highly recommended. mostly without turning it on more than once. they are good with everyone in the neighborhood, children when raised with them. very protective without being taught. |

About
Mactavish, The |
Mactavish, a
Purebred was
adopted by
Karen Jones from
United States. |
Here's how
Karen Jones describes
Mactavish :
Lovable, energetic, wildman, true terrier,(terrierist)
full of mischief, playful, stubborn, curious, cute as can be, a whirlwind. |
Does
Mactavish 's behavior show the inherent
characteristics?
When we decided to get another dog we researched several different breeds. being the wise people we are we got a westie, thinking there was absolutley no way these books were accurate.....well, we found out that he is exactly as they described westies.. we have had a difficult time potty training him, he chews on everything and.. so on, as goes the books. so, he is exactly as described in the books and at times more! |
Special Achievement of Mactavish :
He is a sweet baby, he is 9 months old now and we love him dearly. he tries our patience many times during the day. but he is always full of kisses and snuggles no matter how many times he gets corrected.
he roars around our kitchen table as if it is a race track at full speed and then turns around and goes the other way. his nickname is "mactavish the naughty", which he lives up to everyday. he loves people, he has never met a stranger, whom ever he sees he wants to greet them and have them pay attention to him, he is very people oriented.
he has managed to fill the void we had in our hearts after we had to have our springer put to sleep. |
Karen Jones's advice on what type of family should adopt
a :
We are retired, and don't move as fast as we used to, so i would recommend someone younger with more energy and someone who can get down on the floor and rough house with them. we don't have a fenced yard, and i believe that he as well as his people would be much happier with one. westies require a lot of attention, love to be held several times during the day for 10-20 minutes at a time, so extra time is needed. he loves our 18 month old grandbaby and so i believe this dog would do well with little ones. |
